Q: When our dog is with you, will they spend a lot of time in the crate?
A: We believe that crate time is an integral part of a dog’s life, however we do not use crate’s for punishment and are not in the business of leaving dogs unworked and unattended for long periods of time. Dogs will be crated at night time and when unsupervised for short periods of time. We will spend time acclimating your dog to enjoy the downtime in his crate.
Q: Do I need to buy an E-collar for training at Embark?
A: Yes. All programs except the Puppy Head Start include use of E-collars. E-collars can be purchased prior to training through us, or on amazon.com. At Embark we will only use high quality E-collars from E-collar Technologies or Dogtra. Our favorite and most affordable unit in the E-collar Technologies Mini Educator, see link below:
Units can also be purchased through us, please ask for details.
Q: Will my dog be interacting with other dogs during his/her stay?
A: Yes! Your dog will learn how to properly socialize with our personalize dogs and other dogs on the property. We believe it should be common practice for dogs to learn to calmly walk past other, strange dogs on the street. Therefore, all play and social interaction will take place on property with dogs we know and trust.
Q: Will this training change my dog’s personality?
A: We are not in the business of changing dogs’ personalities. We want to strengthen their obedience and build a strong bond with their handler which will enable more freedom and a more trusting relationship.
